Impact: During the incident, users were unable to login to the Cloud Portal
Root Cause: An unexpected spike in traffic generated more load than our web servers could handle, resulting in resource exhaustion.
Resolution: The DevOps team initiated mitigation procedures, restoring full functionality. After the functionality was restored, engineers added additional web server capacity in the event another spike of traffic occurs in the short term. Additional analysis of capacity needs is underway and adjustments will be made as needed.
